{December 1, 2007}   Laptop Batteries Suck!

Its not that they don’t have enough power… because we all know that.

Its because they have no endurance. Leave your laptop plugged in most of the time for a year, only unplugging it to use it when you need it. It will die faster and faster every time. Eventually, after that year, you will be at somewhere around 30 percent of your actual storage capacity that you had when you bought the computer.

No biggie, replace the battery right?

Batteries are FLIPPING EXPENSIVE. There are ways to replace the cells int he batteries yourself, or by a professional service, but that’s STILL costly.

I want a battery that actually has the same energy storage capacity the day it is new, and four years later dammit.

I am a firm believer that there are two major problems with notebooks today. Durability, and battery life. Durability has been enhanced by companies like Panasonic with their Toughbooks, but the battery life issue has yet to be resolved.

Fix it engineers, and do it soon.
