I browsed auto blog today, and I laid eyes upon these two monstrosities.

The Mazda Furai… which stands on the shoulders of giants like the RX7 and the Cosmo.

and the new Subaru Forester, which has been the oddly utilitarian Subaru Impreza variant… shh don’t tell your mother that its not really and SUV… for years.

Unfortunately neither of these cars is even remotely attractive. The Furai looks like a whale corpse was modified to drive around a race track, and the Forrester looks like Subaru has decided to throw everything that made the Forrester unique… in a good way… in its market segment out the window. You know what this calls for…

I also am unsure of why they left the ugly Japanese market fender mirror on the car for the Subaru that publicity picture.

The one cool thing that they are adding double wishbone rear suspension.

The list of uncool things are long. The Forrester is now…

1. Wider
2. Longer
3. Taller
4. More SUV looking (read douchebage esque)
5. Uglier
6. Less unique
7. I am going to take a guess and say… heavier.
8. Pointless

I love Subaru, in fact, they are my favorite automobile company. But with Subaru these days, it seems to be one step forward, one step back. They decided brilliantly to ditch their ugly brand identity nose… and go back to better looking normal grilles. Now, they decide to turn another of their models into this… thing.

Isn’t this the market the Tribecca went for? So much for sport utility wagons…

Which were really just lifted Legacies with body kits sold to dumb people.
