The Amazon kindle is a new product in an old product category, the e-book. The kindle allows you to buy new books anywhere you get cell phone reception on the device, and read them. The books are often cheaper in digital form than in paper form, you can purchase them anywhere, and with the e-ink display they are just as easy on your eyes as ink on paper. Awesome.
The Kindle has a strange name, its a bit ugly, and it lacks a back light, but for the most part it is a fantastic device. This is reading in the new millennium. Many reviewers seem to not understand the device, and it has been receiving a cold reception. I think anyone who dislikes this device, is making a big deal out of little flaws.
Except for one point, the price. The kindle costs 400 bones.
Amazon, have you ever heard about giving away the razor and selling the blades? I would love to buy my parents these for holiday gifts, but I would not for a second consider paying the price that Amazon is asking. I would pay… 60… maybe 100 dollars for this, but Amazon has priced this out of competitiveness.
Amazon can do better, I just hope that they do.

On an amusing side note, even the Amazon Kindle reader has 3g data access, something that the iPhone does not. Cute.
